The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of Shaudo Alku, a top aide of terrorist leader Bello Turji. He was killed in a targeted airstrike in Sokoto State.

The airstrike hit a terrorist camp near Tunfa Primary School in Isa Local Government Area on Sunday. It was carried out by the Air Component of Operation Fagge Yama.

Military intelligence said Alku had crossed into Nigeria from Niger Republic. He was attending a secret meeting of Turji’s group. Several fighters and senior commanders were also killed in the attack.

A military source said the strike was based on strong intelligence. “We used surveillance and precise data to locate the camp. The strike was swift and successful,” the source said.

Alku was not just an ordinary fighter. He coordinated arms supply and cross-border operations for Turji’s faction.

The Army said the strike was a big step in breaking the command structure of terrorists in Sokoto, Zamfara, and Katsina States.

Bello Turji remains one of the most dangerous terrorist leaders in Nigeria. He is linked to mass abductions, killings, and village attacks. His network crosses state and national borders.

Security experts say Alku’s death is a major blow. But they warn that more work is needed.

“This is progress,” said Dr. Yusuf Anka, a conflict analyst. “But lasting peace will need sustained action and cooperation with Niger and Chad.”

Residents of Isa welcomed the operation. “We heard explosions and saw helicopters. It gave us hope,” said a local who asked to remain anonymous.

The military said it is continuing mop-up operations. Efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing terrorists.
