Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have jointly affirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stand unopposed as the party’s presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.

The announcement was made during the APC National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. The event, which carried the theme “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far,” brought together party stalwarts from across the country, including top federal and state government officials.

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, moved the motion for Tinubu’s endorsement. His proposal was promptly seconded by Kaduna State Governor and PGF Vice Chairman, Uba Sani. The motion was adopted unanimously through a voice vote, receiving widespread applause from attendees.

Prominent figures present at the summit included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, sitting and former governors, National Assembly members, and delegates from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The endorsement consolidates President Tinubu’s position within the party ahead of the 2027 election season and follows a similar declaration of support made earlier in the week by APC leaders in the Northwest geopolitical zone.

Party insiders suggest the move reflects growing unity within the APC as preparations for the next electoral cycle gain momentum.
