The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed its performance in Saturday’s by-elections as a strong endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and a boost ahead of the 2027 general elections.

APC spokesman in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, said in a statement on Sunday that the party’s victory in 12 out of 16 contested constituencies reaffirmed its dominance nationwide.

“With APC dominance reaffirmed, the stage is set for a grand 2027 showdown,” he said, noting that the outcome was the party’s first major test under its new national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.

According to Oladejo, the wins in Edo Central Senatorial District, House seats in Kaduna, Jigawa, Ogun and Edo, and multiple state assembly constituencies showed Nigerians’ support for Tinubu’s reforms on the economy, infrastructure, and security.

He dismissed opposition gains as marginal, pointing out that the Labour Party failed to win any seat, the PDP managed only one in Oyo, NNPP retained a single seat in Kano, while APGA secured two in Anambra.

“These exceptions don’t change the larger picture: APC remains the party of choice,” Oladejo said, stressing that the outcome served as a referendum on Tinubu’s leadership and long-term vision.

He added that Nigerians would remember “who stood firm in uncertainty, who led with courage, and who delivered results” when the 2027 elections arrive.
