The founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Udenta Udenta, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a weak political structure that cannot survive Nigeria’s future.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE News on Tuesday, Udenta described the APC as “a structure of darkness” that has weaponised state institutions to entrench its dominance.
“This is a structure of darkness. This is a structure that will collapse on its own,” he said.
He accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of functioning as an extension of the ruling party, alleging that the electoral body had become “a weapon in the hands of APC, used to legitimise electoral robbery and violence.”
Udenta further warned that the judiciary had been compromised, making the 2027 general election a decisive turning point, especially if former President Goodluck Jonathan contests.
“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests that election,” he noted.
He stressed that only a united opposition could prevent the APC from tightening its grip on power. “If PDP and Labour Party do not come together, the APC will destroy this country beyond recognition,” Udenta cautioned.
On governance, he accused the ruling party of worsening Nigeria’s crises.
“What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion and collapse legitimacy,” he said.
According to him, Nigerians are increasingly disillusioned with the APC government and would decisively reject it if credible alternatives emerge.
“This country cannot continue like this. The people are waiting, the people are watching, the people are suffering. 2027 is not just another election. It is the soul of the country that will be contested,” he added.
Udenta, a known critic of President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, had in July criticised talks about Tinubu’s 2027 running mate as a humiliation of Vice President Kashim Shettima, accusing APC governors and party leaders of sidelining him while openly endorsing Tinubu’s reelection.
