The coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Jigawa State has called on the national leadership of the ruling party to sanction its national financial secretary, Bashir Gumel, over alleged insubordination and divisive behavior.

Speaking at a press conference in Dutse, the group’s chairman, Saidu Uba, accused Gumel of shifting loyalty from the party to individuals, describing his recent conduct and remarks as “unwholesome” and damaging to party unity.

The coalition faulted Gumel for attending a political event in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area that it claimed was not sanctioned by the state leadership. They also alleged that his comments against Governor Umar Namadi and the APC leadership in Jigawa incited unrest, which led to injuries and destruction of property.

Citing Article 21(A) of the APC constitution, the group said Gumel’s actions amounted to bringing the party into disrepute, disrespecting leadership, and promoting factionalism. It urged the National Working Committee (NWC) to launch an investigation and impose disciplinary measures.

Efforts to reach Bashir Gumel for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report, as calls and text messages to his phone went unanswered.
