Chelsea FC have officially announced the signing of Joao Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion, securing the services of the Brazilian forward on a contract that runs until 2033.

The 23-year-old, who joins ahead of Chelsea’s FIFA Club World Cup quarter-final clash with Palmeiras, said he’s eager to contribute to the club’s winning culture.

“Everyone knows this is a big club with a great history,” said Pedro. “When you’re a Chelsea player, you must think one thing , win.”

Joao Pedro arrives at Stamford Bridge after a standout season with Brighton, where he netted 19 goals across all competitions, finishing as their joint-top scorer. He had previously shone at Watford, making over 100 appearances and even captaining the side during the 2022/23 campaign before moving to the South Coast in 2023.

A Fluminense academy graduate, Pedro burst onto the scene in Brazil with 10 goals in 36 matches before moving to England. His performances have also earned him three international caps for Brazil, most recently featuring in a 2–1 win over Colombia.

Capable of playing across the front line, Joao Pedro adds versatility and firepower to Chelsea’s attacking options as they gear up for international and domestic challenges.

With his arrival, the Blues continue to build a youthful and ambitious squad underpinned by long-term planning and world-class talent.
