Fintiri Reaffirms Support for Security Forces at 3 Division Officers’ Competition in Yola
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the military and other security agencies in addressing all forms of insecurity in Adamawa State.
The governor made this known at the opening ceremony of the 3 Division Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition 2025, held at Gibson Jalo Cantonment in Yola.
The event brought together six formations under the 3 Division’s area of responsibility, including the 33 Artillery Brigade (Bauchi), 6 Brigade (Jalingo), 23 Armoured Brigade (Yola), 3 Division Garrison, 43 Engineer Brigade, and 53 Signal Brigade (Jos).
The officers competed in various drills designed to assess their leadership qualities, organizational skills, initiative, and physical fitness.
In an address delivered by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, Governor Fintiri praised the officers for their dedication and sacrifices in maintaining peace and security despite internal and external challenges.
He emphasized that courage alone is not enough to tackle today’s complex security threats. The governor highlighted the need to provide military personnel with adequate tools, training, and public support.
Governor Fintiri also reaffirmed his administration’s ongoing partnership with the security sector and pledged continued investment in programs aimed at strengthening their operational capacity.
“The competition is a strong affirmation of the qualities that define you as exceptional soldiers,” he told the participants.
Speaking on behalf of the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the Commander of 23 Armoured Brigade Yola, Brigadier General Amechi Agwu, commended the participants. He described the competition as a demonstration of the military’s shared commitment to operational readiness and combat effectiveness.
He encouraged the officers to continue setting examples in physical and mental toughness, inspiring younger generations of soldiers.
