Over 900 former members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State, in what has been described as a major political realignment ahead of future elections.

The decampees, numbering 930, were received in a symbolic ceremony held on Monday, where Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, represented by the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Mrs. Augustina Wandahya, welcomed them back into the PDP fold with assurances of full integration and equal treatment.

“The PDP remains a party of inclusiveness, fairness, and opportunity,” Governor Fintiri said in a statement delivered at the event. “We welcome you home—not as guests, but as full members with equal rights and responsibilities.”

Among the high-profile returnees were former Michika Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sylvester D. Wada; ex-House of Assembly aspirant, Hon. Ishaya Dawa; and a former Development Area Administrator, Hon. Isaac Chinko.

The event, held at the PDP Secretariat in Yola, was attended by prominent party stakeholders including the PDP Deputy National Treasurer, Hon. Adamu Kamale; Northeast Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Babangida Modibbo; Adamawa State Deputy Chairman, Hon. Stephen Doma; and State Organizing Secretary, Hon. Hamza Bello Madagali.

Fintiri used the occasion to underscore his administration’s focus on equitable development and the delivery of democratic dividends across all communities in the state. He reiterated the PDP’s readiness to accommodate all returnees and new entrants, assuring them of internal democracy and a platform for progressive political engagement.

Party officials at the event described the mass defection as a sign of public confidence in the PDP’s leadership and policies in Adamawa State, while signaling possible shifts in the political landscape ahead of future contests.

“This is more than just a political move,” said Hon. Kamale. “It’s a homecoming. Our doors remain open to all who believe in progress, unity, and responsible leadership.”

The ceremony ended with symbolic presentations of the party flag to key decampees, followed by calls for unity and collective action ahead of the 2027 general elections.
