    Fufore, Adamawa State – February 5, 2025

In a historic event held at the Atiku Abubakar Stadium in Fufore Local Government Area, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, officially presented the Staff of Office to His Royal Highness, Sani Ahmadu Ribadu, as the first Emir of Fufore.

Addressing a distinguished gathering of government officials, traditional rulers, and citizens, Governor Fintiri emphasized the significance of the occasion, describing it as a milestone in the state’s history. He noted that the establishment of the Fufore Emirate is part of broader efforts to foster unity, bring governance closer to the people, and reinforce the sanctity of traditional institutions in Adamawa State.

“We are embarking on a journey that will bind our people together and create access to governance in areas where it has been difficult to reach,” Governor Fintiri stated. “This move will enhance conflict resolution, strengthen traditional institutions, and deepen our democratic system.”

The governor reiterated that the creation of new emirates and chiefdoms in the state, along with the enactment of the Adamawa State Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) Law 2024, was designed to modernize the traditional institution and streamline the ascension process. He dismissed any misinterpretation of these reforms, affirming that they were borne out of a genuine desire to enhance governance and respect for cultural heritage.

“One of our key policies is that traditional rulers must be natives of the areas they govern,” the governor asserted. “The era of appointing district heads to rule over communities where they have little or no roots is over. This is the best way to align tradition with the will of the people and ensure harmony.”

Governor Fintiri congratulated the people of Fufore on attaining their long-sought Emirate, urging them to support the newly installed Emir. He reminded them that the responsibility of nurturing and sustaining the Emirate lies with them. “This Emirate is your own. It is what you asked for, and it is what we have given you. It will thrive based on your commitment, intellect, and resources,” he declared.

Turning to the newly installed Emir, Governor Fintiri charged him with the task of unifying his people and fostering development in the Emirate. He stressed the importance of conflict resolution, local governance, intelligence gathering for security purposes, and mobilization of resources for sustainable progress.

“Your Royal Highness, your appointment is well deserved,” the governor said. “You must lead your people with justice and fairness, provide advisory support to the government, and ensure peace and development within your domain.”

Concluding his address, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and laying a strong foundation for future leadership in the state. He warned that any deviation from the current development trajectory would be at great risk to future leaders.

Following his speech, the governor formally presented the Staff of Office to Emir Sani Ahmadu Ribadu, symbolizing his authority as the traditional ruler of the newly created Fufore Emirate.

The ceremony was marked by celebrations, traditional displays, and goodwill messages from various dignitaries who lauded the government’s efforts in strengthening traditional leadership and governance in Adamawa State.
