The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has partnered with the Fika Emirate Council to fight corruption in Yobe State.

The collaboration, aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and ethical values, was solidified during a courtesy visit by a delegation led by Mr. Linus Gubbi, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner (RACC) for Borno and Yobe States, to the Emir of Fika and Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alh. Dr. Muhammad Ibn Abali Muhammad Idris, at his palace in Potiskum.

During the visit, Gubbi highlighted the vital role of traditional institutions in shaping societal values and driving behavioral change. He urged the community to stop glorifying ill-gotten wealth, emphasizing that such practices can perpetuate corruption and weaken enforcement efforts.

In response, the Emir of Fika pledged to spread the anti-corruption message across the region. He committed to engaging with other Emirates, District Heads, Village Heads, and Ward Heads to ensure the message reaches grassroots communities.

As a respected security intelligence expert, the Emir assured the ICPC of his full support in fulfilling its constitutional mandate to build a corruption-free society.

By working closely with traditional institutions, the ICPC aims to instill a culture of integrity and accountability, demonstrating the power of collective action in driving positive change.

This partnership marks a significant step toward a more transparent and just society, with traditional leaders playing a crucial role in the fight against corruption.
