The Kano state government has commenced the training of 380 volunteer youths recruited as members of the Special Anti-Phone Snatching and VIP Protection Guards.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Public Relations and Enlightenment at the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services, Malam Muhammad Idris.
According to the statement, the training, currently taking place at the Kano State Corporate Security Institute, Gabasawa, marks the first phase of 600 recruits enlisted under the new initiative aimed at tackling rising crimes.
“The trainees represent the first batch of 600 volunteers recruited to serve as members of the Special Anti-Phone Snatching and VIP Protection Guards. The training is designed to equip the youths with the skills and discipline needed to support security agencies in maintaining peace and order across the state,” Idris said.
Receiving the trainees, the Commandant of the institute, retired Capt. Muhammad Bello Mai Gaskiya, explained that the programme would provide paramilitary training to curb phone snatching and thuggery in Kano metropolis.
