The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, 14th July 2025, as a work-free day across the State in honour of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, who passed away earlier Sunday evening in London.

This was contained in an official statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Abdullahi Garba Faskari, and released to the press today.

According to the statement, the work-free day is intended to allow the people of Katsina State to join fellow Nigerians in mourning the demise of their illustrious son and former leader, as well as to offer prayers for the repose of his soul.

Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, describing Buhari as a statesman of towering integrity, an elder patriot, and a hero of democracy whose life epitomised selfless service and unwavering dedication to Nigeria.

In his tribute, Governor Radda prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to shower mercy upon the departed soul, forgive his shortcomings, and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

The Government assured the public that further details regarding burial arrangements would be communicated in due course.

“Allah Ya jikan sa, Allah Ya gafarta masa. Amin.”
