The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Caucus in Kwara Central Senatorial District has cautioned individuals and groups against politicising security challenges in the state.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Salaam Cementi, the caucus warned that some groups were attempting to exploit insecurity for “cheap publicity” and insisted that the problem was not unique to Kwara State.

The warning comes in response to comments by the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA), which recently raised concerns over insecurity in Kwara North and South. The elders criticised the association’s stance, describing it as the handiwork of “faceless politicians” seeking selfish gains, and cautioned against dragging the revered Emir of Ilorin into political controversies.

The caucus commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what it called his pragmatic approach to restoring peace. It noted the governor’s recent visits to affected communities such as Babanla and Oke-Ode, where he met residents alongside security chiefs and directed the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to extend palliatives to victims of banditry.

Reiterating its support, the caucus urged Kwarans to unite behind the governor to ensure the state remains safe and stable.
