The Kwara State Government has ordered the immediate closure of schools in four local government areas due to rising security concerns.

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Kwara State wing, disclosed the decision on Wednesday, announcing that schools in Isin, Irepodun, Ifelodun, and Ekiti LGAs will remain closed until further notice.

NUT Chairman Yusuf Agboola said the directive came from the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development following fresh security threats in the Kwara South zone. He assured school authorities that updates would be provided as the situation develops.

The closure follows a bandit attack on a Christ Apostolic Church branch in Oke Isegun, Ekiti LGA, on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, which left at least two worshippers dead and over 35 people, including the church pastor, abducted.
