Nigeria and China will deepen their economic and trade relations at the 2025 China Commodities Expo-Nigeria, scheduled to hold from Wednesday, November 5, to Friday, November 7, 2025, in Lagos.
Organisers said on Tuesday that the annual Expo, hosted by China’s Ministry of Commerce Trade Development Bureau in collaboration with Brightway International Exhibition, will bring together more than 250 Chinese manufacturers and over 5,000 business representatives. The event has the backing of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, Nigerian federal and state governments, and several Chinese provinces.
Chief Representative Officer of Brightway International Exhibition, Muheez Ojulari, described the Expo as an essential platform for economic cooperation. “This Expo matters because it gives Nigerian firms direct visibility in front of Chinese manufacturers who control global supply chains. It’s a chance to negotiate better terms, secure financing, and diversify our exports,” he said.
The fair will showcase products across a wide range of sectors, including automobiles, machine tools, food processing machinery, textiles, construction materials, agricultural equipment, electronics, medical devices, household appliances, and renewable energy. Free entry and fully equipped B2B meeting rooms will be provided to encourage direct engagement between Nigerian businesses and Chinese manufacturers.
Since its launch in 2007, the China Commodities Expo has become one of Nigeria’s largest trade events. The 2025 edition comes at a time of increasing bilateral trade. According to Chinese customs data, Nigeria-China trade reached $23.9bn in 2022, with $22.3bn in exports from China and $1.6bn in imports from Nigeria. Between January and July 2025 alone, bilateral trade climbed to $15.48bn, a 34.7% year-on-year increase, making Nigeria China’s second-largest trading partner in Africa.
Beyond trade, organisers say the Expo will attract foreign investment, encourage technology transfer, and support entrepreneurship among Nigerian youths, contributing to job creation, poverty reduction, and economic growth.
Ojulari stressed that the Expo will not only boost Nigeria-China cooperation but also enhance Africa’s role in global supply chains. “The event provides a platform for participants to assess investment potential, access global markets, and strengthen bilateral relations through trade and technology,” he said.
