Nigeria Police Force Denies SARS Reformation Rumors

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has issued a statement clarifying that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) remains dissolved, refuting rumors and misinformation circulating about its possible reformation.

SARS, which was officially disbanded on October 11, 2020, continues to be inactive. The Force emphasized that recent claims regarding the re-establishment of SARS with new rules of engagement should be treated with skepticism. Nigerians are urged to cross-check the source of any such information to avoid falling victim to falsehoods.

In light of this, the NPF encourages citizens to stay updated by following its verified social media accounts, including @PoliceNG on X, @ngpolice on Facebook, and @nigeriapoliceforce on Instagram. These official channels provide accurate and timely updates for public safety.

“Your safety and awareness are paramount. Stay informed and vigilant,” stated ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO).
