OpenAI has introduced a new generation of apps integrated directly into ChatGPT, allowing users to access third-party services through natural conversations.

The company announced this in a blog post on Monday, unveiling the Apps SDK, now available in preview for developers. The SDK allows apps to fit seamlessly into chats, either through user prompts or ChatGPT’s suggestions.

Apps are now accessible to all logged-in ChatGPT users outside the EU on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans. Pilot partners include Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow, with more to follow later this year.

Users can call an app by name for example, “Spotify, make a playlist” and interact with it directly within ChatGPT. The feature blends conversation with familiar app interfaces like maps, playlists, and presentations.

OpenAI said developers can start building immediately and will be able to submit apps for review and monetization later this year.
