The Borno State Police Command has safely recovered an unexploded ordnance (UXO) discovered on a farmland in Dikwa Local Government Area, following a report from a local farmer.

In a statement on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Nahum Daso, said one Babagana Kachalla had alerted authorities after spotting a suspicious object buried on his land.

Commissioner of Police, Naziru Abdulmajid, immediately deployed the Commander of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Base 13, Maiduguri, and his team to the site.

The object was identified as a Cluster Bomb Unit (CBU), measuring about 2.2 meters in length and 30 centimeters in width. The area was professionally cordoned off in line with standard EOD-CBRN protocols, before an in-situ demolition was carried out to safely neutralize the device.

Daso confirmed that the operation was completed without any casualties. He added that community members were sensitized through Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness (EORA) programs to help them recognize and report similar threats in the future.

The command urged residents to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious objects or activities to security agencies.
