A distressing scene unfolded in Kwali Area Council on Saturday evening, 21st June 2025 as the Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Datu Daniel, was reportedly the victim of a violent attack in what many suspect to be a politically motivated incident.

This unsettling development has triggered widespread condemnation and reignited conversations about the deteriorating ethics of political engagement in Nigeria’s grassroots governance.

In the wake of the incident, several citizens have drawn attention to the words of Chinese revolutionary leader Mao Zedong, who famously defined politics as “war without bloodshed.” The implication, according to observers, is that politics should be an intellectual contest—waged through skill, strategy, negotiation, and wit—not violence.

“Unfortunately, we are witnessing a degeneration into barbarity,” one resident told our correspondent. “Rather than outmaneuvering opponents through ideas and political skill, individuals are now resorting to knives and brute force. This is not politics—it is criminality.”

As of press time, there has been no official comment from the Kwali Area Council or law enforcement authorities. However, pressure is mounting for a swift investigation and the apprehension of those responsible.

Community members and political analysts alike are calling for calm and urging all stakeholders to recommit to peaceful, issue-based political dialogue. Some have taken to social media to express their dismay and offer prayers for the victim’s recovery.

“May God make it easy for all of us,” one commenter wrote. “We must reject violence in every form if we are to build a just and democratic society.”
