The Presidency has reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ending insecurity and fostering peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, describing him as a leader resolutely focused on defeating terrorism and rebuilding national unity.
Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Sunday Dare, made this known in a post on X on Tuesday, praising Tinubu’s efforts in peacebuilding and promoting interfaith harmony.
According to Dare, Nigeria is “fortunate” to have a President with the resolve and experience to confront insecurity.
“Nigeria is now blessed with a President that is committed to ending the scourge of terror and insecurity,” he wrote. “President Bola Tinubu is ready and steadfast in the pursuit of collaborations to advance religious peace and tolerance, better economic ties, and building a resilient country.”
Dare emphasised that Nigeria’s religious and cultural diversity must remain a unifying force.
“While our faiths will continue to differ; our destinies do not,” he said. “Nigeria is not a land of persecution; it is a land of opportunities a land of shared grief and shared hope.”
His remarks come ahead of a highly anticipated meeting between Tinubu and U.S. President Donald Trump over allegations of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria claims the federal government strongly denies.
Presidential aide Daniel Bwala had earlier confirmed the planned meeting, stating that discussions would focus on counterterrorism cooperation and correcting misconceptions about violence in Nigeria.
The engagement follows Trump’s threat to suspend U.S. aid and consider military action over alleged religious persecution a position rooted in recent remarks by U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore, who claimed Christians face “systematic slaughter” in Nigeria. Abuja has dismissed the accusation as unfounded and misleading.
