Tensions flared at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja on Friday as party members from Ekiti State protested the disqualification of governorship aspirant Kayode Ojo from the upcoming primary.

The APC National Working Committee had earlier barred Ojo from contesting in the October 27 primary, paving the way for incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji to emerge as the party’s consensus candidate ahead of the July 20, 2026, governorship election.

The protesters  mostly women  stormed the secretariat with placards bearing inscriptions such as “We Say No to Kayode Ojo’s Disqualification,” “No to Consensus,” and “Ekiti Women Reject BAO.” They chanted slogans demanding a fair primary and accusing the party leadership of imposing a candidate on the people.
