
President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed members of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the Federal Character Commission (FCC), and the National Population Commission (NPC) at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.
The event also witnessed the swearing-in of eight former directors in the Federal Civil Service as Permanent Secretaries, following a rigorous selection process that included written and oral examinations, as well as ICT competency assessments.
Newly Appointed Permanent Secretaries
Among the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries is Dr. Onwusoro Ihemelandu from Abia State, an optometrist and World Bank-certified procurement expert. Ihemelandu, who began his career in 1997 with the Federal Ministry of Health, has held key procurement roles across several ministries, including Environment, Labour and Employment, and Interior.
Another notable appointee is Philip Ebiogeh Ndiomu from Bayelsa State, an agricultural expert with extensive experience in rural development and youth empowerment. As Director of Agriculture at the Ministry of Niger Delta Development, Ndiomu led initiatives that trained over 5,500 women, youths, and vulnerable groups.
Dr. Anuma Nlia from Ebonyi State, a seasoned medical doctor and healthcare administrator, also took the oath of office. With expertise in medical microbiology and obstetrics, he played a critical role in shaping Nigeria’s tertiary healthcare policies during his tenure at the Federal Ministry of Health.
Other sworn-in Permanent Secretaries include Chinasa Nnam Ogbodo (Enugu State), a veteran accountant and former Director of Special Duties at the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation; Dr. Kalba Danjuma Usman (Gombe State), a renowned urologist and pioneer of LASER surgery in Nigeria; and Dr. Salihu Aminu Usman (Kebbi State), an experienced financial administrator and former Director of Finance at the National Hajj Commission.
Additionally, Patience Nwakuso Oyekunle (Rivers State), a biochemistry expert with vast experience in policy formulation, and Engr. Nadungu Gagare (Kaduna State), a distinguished agricultural engineer known for his contributions to mechanized farming, were sworn in.
New RMAFC, FCC, and NPC Members
The President also inaugurated 21 new RMAFC members, representing different states across the federation. Among them are Nkechi Oti Linda (Abia), Hon. Ekene Enefe (Anambra), Prof. Steve Davies Ugbah (Benue), and Mohammed Kabeer Usman (Gombe), among others.
Kayode Oladele was sworn in as the Federal Commissioner for the FCC, while Pastor (Mrs.) Iyantan Olukemi Victoria took the oath as the NPC’s Federal Commissioner.
A Commitment to National Development
Speaking after the ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized the critical role of the new appointees in strengthening governance, fiscal responsibility, and equitable resource distribution across the country. He urged them to uphold professionalism and integrity in their new roles.
The swearing-in took place before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, marking a significant step in the administration’s commitment to public sector efficiency and national development.
