Vice President Kashim Shettima has lauded the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its forward-thinking approach in prioritizing education and green technology alongside infrastructure development. He described these initiatives as critical to shaping a prosperous future for the region.

Speaking during a meeting with the NEDC management team in Abuja, Shettima emphasized that education remains the greatest equalizer, fostering social mobility and driving sustainable development. He highlighted the Accelerated Senior Secondary Education Programme (ASSEP) as a transformative initiative that will create a lasting impact on future generations.

“The ASSEP programme will provide young Nigerians with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving world,” Shettima stated. “By investing in education and green technology, we are not only building infrastructure but also equipping our youth with the tools to thrive.”

Shettima commended NEDC stakeholders for their dedication to the region’s growth, noting that their efforts in education and environmental sustainability would ensure a resilient and innovative North East. He underscored the importance of a holistic development approach that integrates human capital development with technological advancements.

The NEDC’s commitment to green technology aligns with Nigeria’s broader vision for sustainable economic progress. The Vice President reiterated that investments in renewable energy and environmentally friendly solutions would not only boost economic opportunities but also address climate-related challenges in the region.

With education and innovation at the core of its development agenda, the NEDC continues to make strides toward a brighter and more sustainable future for the North East. Stakeholders remain optimistic that these strategic interventions will catalyze long-term transformation, enhancing the socio-economic landscape of the region.
