Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has praised Nigeria’s performance following their 3-1 win over Uganda in the final Group C match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Tuesday.

Nigeria completed a perfect group-stage campaign in Morocco, with goals from Paul Onuachu and a brace from midfielder Raphael Onyedika securing maximum points from three matches.

Head coach Eric Chelle rotated the squad for the match, giving Onuachu a starting role ahead of Akor Adams. Onuachu opened the scoring in the 28th minute, finishing from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru’s pass, shortly after Uganda goalkeeper Denis Onyango denied him from close range.

Onyedika added two second-half goals to cement the 3-1 victory, allowing Nigeria to finish top of Group C with three wins from three matches.

Oliseh commended the team’s organization and the contributions of non-regular starters.

“This is one of our best performances, especially considering the organization and the fact that many of the players were not regular starters,” Oliseh told Nigerian photojournalist Justina Aniefiok.

The victory capped an impressive group-stage run, with Nigeria collecting nine points and asserting dominance in Group C.

The Super Eagles will face their Round of 16 opponent on Monday,  January 5 at Fez Stadium, the same venue where they played all their group-stage matches.
