The National Youth Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Comrade Balarebe Rufa’i, has urged Nigerian youths to take their rightful place in the nation’s political leadership, declaring that the ADC is “the home that empowers, not deceives.”
Addressing young Nigerians across the country, Rufa’i acknowledged the frustrations of unemployment, insecurity, neglect, and political exclusion but affirmed that the youth possess the innovation and resilience needed to reshape Nigeria. “For too long, we have heard the words: ‘You are the leaders of tomorrow.’ But the truth is painfully clear—that ‘tomorrow’ has become a tool of delay, a pacifier, and a myth,” he said.
In a move he described as “bold and historic,” Rufa’i announced that the ADC has allocated 75% of its National Executive Committee (NEC) positions to young Nigerians. This, he emphasized, is not an act of charity but a recognition of the youth’s capacity and readiness to lead.
“Other parties may give you promises. ADC gives you power. Other parties may use your energy. ADC builds your leadership,” he declared.
Rufa’i called on young Nigerians from all regions—North, South, East, and West—to join the ADC at ward, local government, and state levels, and actively participate in its youth wings and national structures. He urged them to run for elective positions “from councillor to presidency under a party that backs you,” describing the movement as a “peaceful revolution” driven by courage, ideas, and leadership.
“This is the only party that has created space for you to lead, to speak, to serve, and to grow. We are offering you more than a vote; we are offering you a voice. We are giving you a political family, not just a platform,” he added.
Rufa’i positioned the ADC as more than a political organisation, describing it as “the political home of the Nigerian youth,” a sanctuary for fresh ideas, honest leadership, and generational renewal.
He concluded with a stirring charge to the nation’s young people:
“Let history remember this generation, not as the one that waited for change, but the one that became the change. The time is now. The platform is ready. The future is in our hands.”
