Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Hamid, imam of the Grand Mosque, delivered this year’s Arafat sermon on Thursday at Namirah Mosque. Addressing millions of pilgrims, he described the day as a powerful symbol of monotheism, humility, and equality before God.

He urged the faithful to engage in remembrance and heartfelt prayers, calling Arafat “a day of answered supplications and multiplied rewards.”

Prominent Saudi officials attended, including Prince Saud bin Mishal, the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, and the Ministers of Hajj and Islamic Affairs.

The sermon marks the spiritual climax of the Hajj, echoing the Prophet Muhammad’s Farewell Sermon from over 1,400 years ago.

Namirah Mosque, the site of the sermon, has undergone major upgrades this year. Spanning 110,000 sq m and accommodating 350,000 worshippers, it now features enhanced cooling, smart ventilation, and advanced audio systems.

Improvements include 19 cooling canopies, 117 mist fans, 70 water units, and reflective flooring. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs also laid over 125,000 sqm of premium carpets.

Support infrastructure was expanded around the mosque. Kidana Development Co. added 320 more canopies, 350 misting columns, and over 290,000 sqm of greenery to ease the heat and improve the worship atmosphere.

Namirah Mosque now boasts 10 entrances, 64 doors, and six minarets. Its systems are managed around the clock for the safety and comfort of pilgrims.
