On the 28th of May 2025, London based English footballing giants will be taking on Real Betis of Spain in Wroclaw, Poland in the final of the UEFA Europa Conference league final. Established in the 2021/2022 season as the 3rd tier of European football below the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League, it has become a platform for smaller teams on the football pyramid to fight for European glory. AS Roma coached by legendary Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho won the first edition of the Conference league, before English club West Ham led by David Moyes won it in 2022/23 to make it their first European trophy since 1965. It produced yet another touching moment last season as Olympiacos of Greece became the first ever Greek side to win a European trophy.
After missing out on the Champions League and Europa League last season Chelsea will be looking to celebrate the Conference league title in addition to qualifying for the Champions league on the final match day. Real Betis on the other hand are making their first ever appearance in a European final driven by the magic of midfield maestro Isco and the brilliance of a reborn Antony on loan from Manchester United. In a season of underdogs and in the perfect tournament for an underdog fairy tale who will come out on top? 90 minutes in Poland will decide and if not extra time and maybe even penalties.
